Last week, Rudolf Scharping visited the Medipee Lab in Moers city centre. In addition to the analyzer and the various digital applications, the focus was on the Chinese healthcare system. The former SPD party leader, prime minister and defense minister has been working as an economic advisor for the Far East for several years and has an extensive network there. At the same time, together with his consulting company, he is the initiator of the German-Chinese Economic Conference, at which Medipee is also represented for the first time.

Medipee has developed a patented device for automatic and non-contact urinalysis. The data is collected via a tennis ball-sized device directly in the toilet at home and evaluated with the help of an intelligent app on the smartphone. The user can document additional information in the app in order to get a comprehensive picture of his health status.

The device and app are currently being tested in a pilot study with the University Hospitals of Coburg and Oldenburg together with patients who have recently had urinary stone surgery. The system supports patients in their follow-up care in everyday life. After the subsequent scientific evaluation, this treatment option is to be listed as a digital health application (DiGA) at the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) and thus reimbursed by the health insurance companies.
