As part of the StartUp Week Düsseldorf, the final round of the “d-healthup” competition took place on Wednesday evening. Under the title “Future Healthcare Industry”, five young companies from the eHealth industry presented their ideas and solutions. Medipee from Moers was able to convince the jury and secure the winner’s check for € 5,000.

The event, organized by the Angel Engine association with the support of ApoBank and AOK, has set itself the goal of networking innovative founders, experienced investors and decision-makers. The award is presented annually at an evening event in Düsseldorf.

Thomas Prokopp, co-founder of Medipee, presented the innovative platform technology to the jury and the audience in his pitch: An apple-sized device that, in combination with the intelligent Medipee app, can automatically and contactlessly analyze urine. “We are revolutionizing urinalysis! Finally, manual and unhygienic handling of urine samples is a thing of the past,” explains Prokopp.

The jury was enthusiastic about the business idea of the Moers-based eHealth start-up and justified its decision with the fact that Medipee has developed a solution for a broad target group close to the patient. Frank Willems, Managing Director and co-founder of Medipee, was delighted with the award and the words of praise from the reviewers: “It’s nice to see that we could convince the top-class jury of our idea. Algorithms, AI and the sensible use of data are of absolute relevance for the future in the healthcare sector – this is exactly where we at Medipee come in!”.
